Lares Hike: The Bulls

Let's set the scene:

We were having a delicious lunch, provided by the amazing chefs at Two Nations restaurant.  Here is this potato sandwich thing that turned out to be just what one wants when your hiking the Andes.

The potato sandwich was both filling and satisfying.  We were enjoying our lunch break and cooling our feet off.

Afterwards we laid down and rested our eyes in the warm sun.  We have no pictures of our little nap, because, well, we were sleeping.  But just imagine us, laying in the grass with our hoodies over our eyes to block out the sun just relaxing our muscles after 3 hours of uphill hiking and a filling lunch.

Then, suddenly, just as I was dozing off, I hear my name being screamed.  I open my eyes to see this.

We jumped up and the bulls raged at us.  No my camera is not on zoom, this is how close they got.

Thankfully we were able to jump up on the rocks and soon enough the Quechuan bull owners (I guess) came along and corralled them up.  And before we knew it the bulls were gone.  But our hearts were pumping and our adrenaline was up.  And this is how we started the difficult afternoon climb to our camp.  Soon, >hint< >hint<. Dad will post about the goings-on at camp! That was a night to remember! (Although I don't think I will ever forget nearly getting stampeded by a bull).
